What happened?

While flashing firmware to your printer an error might occur, and the screen will display the following message: "Firmware in the internal flash corrupted!". The system inside the printer consists of two subsystems. First, there is a bootloader, which then allows the firmware (operating system) to load. While flashing the firmware, something went wrong, and the bootloader is now unable to load it. Don't worry your printer is OK! You just need to reflash the firmware.

Error name: Error!

Error code: #12608

How to fix it?

Each firmware is tested multiple times before being made public, so the problem is most probably in the flashing procedure.

First, place the USB flash drive back into the computer. Delete both files and copy them again from the computer to the USB flash drive. Don't rush and wait until the transfer is fully completed. To be 100 % sure, unmount the flash drive in your operating system before physically removing the drive from the computer. Insert the drive back into the printer and restart it. This should initiate the flashing procedure. If not, reboot the printer by pressing the reset button directly next to the knob and as soon as the printer starts booting up, press once the rotating knob. This "forces" the printer to look for firmware (more about this alternative method).

In case the troubleshooting in the previous paragraph didn't help. The problem might be in the USB flash drive. Find any other USB drive in your household, make sure it is formatted to FAT32, copy both firmware files and repeat the previously described procedure.

Wow, that was a frustrating ride. Thank you for posting the fix! Clicking the dial like a mad woman fixed it for me as well.

Thanks! That was helpful

I tried all what the article required and more: 3 different USBs newly formatted, downloading and redownloading the firmware, decompressing the file with different softwares, using two different PCs... and nothing, I kept getting the error. At the end what helped was a comment on the Forum hinting that once the machine is reset, you should be (very) quick pressing the dial to stop the start-up sequence and flash the firmware. This is not mentioned in the article.

Pressing the dial button quickly solved my problem, as well.

Yep, that's a pretty critical piece of info left out!

Hello, thank you for your comment, and sorry to see that there was some earlier confusion stemming from the article wording. The trick under the sleeve is indeed being quick to press the LCD rotating knob once the reset button is pressed - it would have to be during the booting basically, only that way the booting would stop and the printer would be 'forced' to look for the firmware file in the connected USB drive.

Hello, thanks for the feedback, and sorry that it still wasn't fully clear in the article, that step in the procedure is now reworded.
